Cottonwood Water and Sanitation District wants you to know that many
household items require proper disposal so that dangerous chemicals and metals
do not end up in your drinking water. According to the Tri-County Health
Department, the following items should NOT be thrown into the trash:
paints, solvents, batteries, fluorescent light bulbs, televisions, computer
electronics equipment, keyboards, monitors, fax machines and printers.
These items are classified as hazardous waste because they contain caustic
materials and harmful metals including lead, phosphorus, cadmium, barium, and
mercury which can contaminate our groundwater.
